Meskipun ada peningkatan cukup signifikan, bukan berarti pertumbuhan digital marketing tidak mengalami masalah di Indonesia. Saat ini, tantangan yang kerap dihadapi oleh para pelaku pemasar di Indonesia adalah keterbatasan dana, kemampuan, dan ketersediaan sumber daya. Akibatnya, sebagian besar konten digital marketing lebih banyak ditujukan untuk membangun awareness, bukan untuk menghasilkan direct sales (penjualan langsung).

Berdasarkan survei, para marketer di Indonesia percaya bahwa content marketing, pengalaman konsumen, dan platform mobile masih bisa dieksplorasi lebih jauh. Bahkan, ketiganya terhubung satu sama lain dan berpotensi besar untuk dikembangkan.

Melihat kondisi yang ada saat ini, kita hanya perlu memikirkan strategi apa yang tepat dan relevan sambil melihat sejauh mana metode marketing berkembang lewat tool digital yang ada.
